El Salvador

Warren Educational Policies Program

As part of the project WEPP started in El Salvador in 2016, the program collaborated with Carlos Rodriguez Rivas, at that time, the Director of the National Institute of Teacher Training (INFOD) from the Ministry of Education. After signing an MOU with the Ministry and the Ombudsman Office, through Carlos's intermediation, WEPP started collaborating with the Ministry of Education to develop the educational toolkit Citizenship, Memory, and a Culture of Peace in El Salvador. As part of the project, in 2019, the Ministry of Education and WEPP launched an online training program to assist teachers nationwide in using this educational material that trained more than 100 people.

Taking on this collaboration after the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, in 2021, with the support of UNDP, WEPP, and INFOD, launched a second phase of the project, revising and completing the booklet and developing a new online training program using Google Classroom, which plans to train around 1,200 educators around the country before the end of 2023. Once this training second phase is over, INFOD will continue to offer this training to educators in the country as part of its regular training program.
