Ambassador Adrian A. Basora is a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute and co-chair of its Eurasia Program and the Project on Democratic Transitions. He previously served as U.S. Ambassador to Czechoslovakia, and then to the Czech Republic. Prior to that, he was Director of European Affairs at the National Security Council, where he helped formulate US policies of support for democratization in the post-communist states after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Ambassador Basora’s Foreign Service career also included assignments in Latin America, Romania, France, Spain, and at the State Department. He subsequently served as President of Eisenhower Fellowships, an international leadership development organization. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a Director of NASDAQ’s National Futures Exchange. He holds an MPA in Public and International Affairs from Princeton University plus degrees from Fordham University and the Institut d’Études Politiques in Paris.
