Emily Simoness is the Founder and Executive Director of SPACE on Ryder Farm, a non-profit artist residency program committed to supporting and developing artists and their work. Housed on 130 acres of organic farmland in Brewster, New York, SPACE has quickly become one of the premier centers for new play development in the country. Under Emily’s leadership, playwrights Rob Askins, Bekah Brunstetter, Joshua Harmon, Sam Hunter, Young Jean Lee, Dan LeFranc, Adam Rapp, Molly Smith Metzler and Lucy Thurber (to name a few) have developed new works. As an actress, Emily worked at some of the premier theatrical venues in the nation including Williamstown Theatre Festival and The Public Theater. Additionally, she has developed and taught acting curriculum for OneOnOne in NYC and The North Carolina School of the Arts. Outside of her core work in the arts, Emily is a consultant for Bi-Jingo, a management development firm that specializes in communication and leadership skills for executives; she is certified in Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Steps I and II. In 2013, she was the chief of staff for the Beijing International Screenwriting Competition. In 2015, she gave a talk at TEDx Broadway. Emily holds a BFA in acting from UNCSA where she is the inaugural Kenan Arts Research Fellow. On her decision to join AIPG's International Advisory Board, Emily explained:
Over the past few years I have had the supreme pleasure of getting to know the Auschwitz Institute and the incredible individuals who work for the organization. I am awestruck both at the vital work that is being done and the way that it is being executed. The Institute's training programs are critical in the prevention of genocide internationally.
