Active in Latin America since 2008, the Auschwitz Institute facilitated the creation of the Latin American Network for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention in 2012, acting as the body’s Technical Secretariat since its inception. The Latin American Network is composed of institutions from states across the region that have made it their mission to advance sustainable atrocity prevention practices and prioritize prevention within their country’s human rights agenda. As Technical Secretariat of the Latin American Network, the LAP develops and implements in person and virtual training seminars for key regional actors, provides other measures of technical assistance through the development of atrocity prevention tools and resources that increase societal resilience, such as policy papers, and provides logistics and communications support for the dissemination of the Network’s achievements.
