Originally founded in 2005, the “Instytut Auschwitz na rzecz Zapobiegania Zbrodniom Ludobójstwa i Masowym Aktom Okrucieństwa (Auschwitz Institute for the Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities) is established as a Public Benefit Organization with its office in Oswiecim, Poland, where the former Nazi concentration and extermination camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau is located. AIPG's Polish Office provides local logistical and programmatic support for our flagship educational program, the Global Raphael Lemkin Seminar for Genocide Prevention, which takes place at Auschwitz and various sites around Oswiecim each year.
Additionally, this Office partners with other organizations working locally in Poland on Holocaust Education and Remembrance, human rights and other issue areas related to atrocity prevention to develop programming that promotes respect for the fundamental principles of tolerance, human dignity and freedom for all. Finally, the AIPG Polish Office partners with our Mediterranean Basin Program based in Bucharest, Romania on atrocity prevention programming taking place in the Balkans and Eastern Europe, providing programmatic planning and logistical support for project implementation.
